Autumn 2017 has proved to be as busy as ever. Whilst it’s fair to say that there’s more than a degree of uncertainty surrounding the economy and the country’s future post-Brexit we’re enjoying a very busy second half to the year. Enquiries are still coming in in abundance and already the diary for 2018 is looking very healthy. So we’re happy to report that at Madhen we’re as buoyant about the coming months as ever!
With 24 dates in the past quarter, including multiple trips to Barcelona, Rome and Lisbon we’ve enjoyed performing at our usual mix of corporate, charity and private events. Here are a few of the highlights:
Madhen in Barcelona
Our first trip to Barcelona was for Coty at the stunning W Hotel. This event presented us with probably one of our most luxurious dressing rooms – a penthouse suite complete with jacuzzi on the balcony! (See pics) Sadly we didn’t indulge. But we were tempted!
Two weeks later we were back in Barcelona – this time a repeat booking for the New Partner Programme at EY. The event was at the stunning Cava Rondel. This is the 3rd time we’ve performed for this worldwide audience of new partners. As ever, we were made to feel welcome and delighted to see a full dance-floor throughout!
We were excited to be asked to perform at a new charity event (at least to us!) “Best Beginnings”, organised by our new ‘best friend’ Alan Graham! With a celebrity-filled guest-list this was exactly the sort of event that Madhen love performing at. We’ve been booked for next year’s Ball, this time on a much bigger scale at Grosvenor House.
VSA Ball 2017 Aberdeen
We also returned to Aberdeen for our 4th time playing at the VSA Ball.. Never a band to shy away from dressing up, Helen once again worked her magic so that we were suitably attired for the “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory” theme!
We were sponsored for the event by by the lovely people at John Mutch Building Services
The evening raised in excess of £100k and was hosted again by the wonderful Dougie Vipond (Drummer with Deacon Blue).
As with Best Beginnings we were re-booked the very next day for 2018’s fund raising Ball with a ‘Narnia’ theme…bring on the next set of costumes!
Doddie Weir Testimonial
Our final charity event of this quarter saw us performing for Scottish Rugby legend Doddie Weir, at his fund-raising dinner held at Battersea Evolution. This giant of the game has been cruelly diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. It was a privilege to be asked to perform at such a moving and prestigious event. Click here for more info.
Other corporate events took us to the North West with events in Liverpool where, together with Rylan Clark–Neal, Madhen performed awards stings before playing our party set to an energetic crowd.
Madhen and Olly Murrs
Manchester seems to be the place to be at the minute with three events in as many weeks – most notably our 5th appearance at the Travel Counsellors Awards held at Manchester Central. This event always has superstar headline acts. Previously we’ve shared a stage with McFly, Simply Red, Ronan Keating and Gary Barlow.
This year we followed Olly Murrs who we first met a couple of years ago at footballer Joe Hart’s stunning Italian wedding in Florence. The guests were as welcoming as ever and it was great to see so many familiar friendly faces! Twitter, Facebook and Instagram were awash with lovely comments…so thank you to everyone who got in touch!
So now we’re primed and ready for the onslaught of a busy Christmas season. 13 bookings in 21 days. Then a short break before a record-breaking January! It will be Spring before we know it!
