Wooden Spoon Charity Ball
This week saw Madhen returning to the Westminster Park Plaza for our 3rd consecutive year performing at the Wooden Spoon Ball – the children’s charity of rugby, set up to help disabled and disadvantaged children through the sport.
The charity event was bigger than ever, raising a fantastic amount of money for such a great cause. It’s always nice to recognise familiar faces from previous years on the dance floor.
Travel Counsellors Conference
Like the Wooden Spoon event Madhen were invited for the 3rd consecutive year to play at what must be one of the most highly anticipated awards corporate events in the calendar – The Travel Councillors Awards. This event always generates a huge amount of excitement and anticipation as the event organisers always plan something special for the party held at Manchester Central.
Previous TC events have seen Madhen share the stage with McFly and last year Simply Red – both difficult to follow to say the least! This year didn’t disappoint. Primed perfectly by host Vernon Kay 2000 Travel Counsellors were treated to a pre-dinner set by vocal group The Overtones followed by a fantastic performance by local hero and national treasure Gary Barlow!

We received so many fantastic messages following our performance. We wait with anticipation to see if we can make a 4th consecutive appearance! The event organisers have certainly made the 2015 conference a hard act to follow!
It’s a real privilege for Madhen to perform alongside such stars from the music industry and we don’t take it for granted. But it’s very gratifying to see the reaction we get following from such stellar performances. Equally to be asked to return to such prestigious events year after year is one of the clearest indicators that as a party band we must be doing something right!
