Another recording-breaking Autumn at Madhen

Busy Hens are happy Hens, and the second half of 2016 has not disappointed!

We now regularly receive in excess of 40 enquiries each month, and we’re seeing the 2017 diary already filling up nicely. But before we speed into a new year the last month has been our busiest November ever!

As well as weddings and birthdays we’ve performed at corporate events for amongst others, Theo Paphitis Retail Group, DellEMC, Hard Rock Cafe, World Travel Market, Hewlett Packard, Sunseeker Yachts, Zoopla and Travel Councellors. We’ve also performed at the 20th Anniversary Ball for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, returned to Aberdeen to play at the VSA Charity Ball for the 2nd consecutive year, and a return performance at the Paul Strank Roofing Charity…and it’s not even Christmas yet!

We wanted to share a few of the highlights of the past few weeks…

A few of our top corporate parties this month

Theo Paphitis Retail Group comprises of Ryman, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue. We entertained staff from all three divisions in an 80’s extravaganza. Once again, Madhen Productions supplied break dancers courtesy of Mo’Stef (Worldwide OK) and stunning DJ Rosie to complete the night’s entertainment.

Grosvenor House was the venue chosen to celebrate 20 years of the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race, attended by participants past and present.

An International party band

We flew to Barcelona, one of our favourite cities, with one of our favourite clients Principal Global Events for a Salvador Dali – themed party for Dell / EMC2. Helen’s always up for a costume challenge and working with a client on their theme has been one of the USP’s associated with Madhen Band.

Despite cancelled flights we managed (by the skin of our teeth) to make our next event in Lisbon the following day. Having our own sound engineer travel with us may be considered a luxury but this is definitely a great example why this should be a no brainer! Having detailed technical riders means that we not only sound our best but can set up in next to no time when required. Calmness and professionalism from both the event company and the band meant that no one was any the wiser as we went on stage barely 90 minutes after landing!

Partying in London and Manchester

Last year we performed at the Hard Rock Cafe (sponsored by the Big Bus Co) as part of the World Travel market. This year we were delighted to be asked back for not one but two events back to back at this iconic London venue.

Continuing our travel theme we returned to Manchester Central to play our 4th consecutive year at the Travel Counsellors Award. This is a huge event with well over 1000 guests. Each year the event has a stellar headline act (previous years include McFly, Simply Red and Gary Barlow). This year’s surprise act was Ronan Keating, just back from a four month world tour. This is one of the highlight events in our calendar and we’re always thrilled by the reception we receive from the guests, some of whom are more like friends!

The perfect party band for a birthday

The final highlight of the month has to be our visit to Burgh Island Hotel in Devon. The island is cut off from the mainland during high tide which means the only way we can access the venue is by a fleet of Land Rovers at low tide, and any other time by the world’s on hydrolic Sea Tractor! Madhen has played in some beautiful and unusual places all over the world, but the last part of the journey made this particular event, (a birthday party for our lovely host Natalie) one of the most memorable! Thanks to the lovely staff at Burgh Island who could not have been more helpful in assisting with the logistics of transporting the Madhen Band, PA and lighting on and off the island!
