It would be a mistake to think that Madhen is a band for every event. There is no ’one size fits all’ – but we think we come pretty close. We’ve enjoyed performing at a range of events over the past couple of months. August has been a great month for Madhen, with weddings, parties, corporate events and sporting events.
Wedding entertainment
August began with a stunning wedding in Lancashire for Iain and Faye. The event was brilliantly managed by Andrea Swift (www.fabulousday.co.uk). We’re definitely not your ‘typical’ wedding band, so we were delighted and surprised, following our performance, to be asked to play for the groom’s father’s 70th birthday next year! Sadly, we’re already booked for this but our ‘sister’ band CandyAmp (www.candyamp.com) are lined up to play at the event in Edinburgh next June!
Our second wedding in August was on a scale like no other: 1400 guests in Surrey. This epic event was produced by Principal Promotions, for whom we have built a very strong relationship over many years. Anupa and her team have taken us all over Europe. Typically an event with Principal involves a theme and therefore a costume! We also had the luxury of adding Curtis (from CandyAmp) as a second guitarist and dancers too, all suitably adorned in Circus-themed attire. It was unlike any other wedding we’ve had the privilege to perform at.
Thanks to Anupa for this great testimonial:
“Dear Martyn, Matthew, Helen, Paul, Andy & Curtis,
What can I say but simply amazing and WOW! Forgetting how many times I’ve seen you perform I still get excited when you come on stage and the show starts! I know what’s to come and I know how the audience are going to feel once you start! I just wanted to extend my sincere thanks and a massive well done on the wedding reception. It’s not an easy feat to produce an event with such class and grandeur. It takes a lot of hard work, late nights, determination and care to pull off an event of this scale. We rely massively on our suppliers and you were the highlight on the evening by far! People are still talking about you, from the adults to the kids everyone just loved you! You were superb in the pre event planning (with all our specific costume requests, dancers etc etc). I’m so pleased we have found such good partners in yourselves. I think we managed to wow the audience which is always a plus! From start to finish your set was just class! You know how much I love you guys and long may you continue to get better and better! A massive thank you from the Principal Team! Thank you once again and a great job and making me look good lol….I just book you, you guys do all the magic!”
Many thanks again and see you on the next one.
Lots of love
Anupa White. Director
August is not only for weddings. We were delighted to play to a full dance floor at Max’s 21st birthday party in Leicestershire. One of the things we’re most proud of is that with the same playlist we can be the right band for a 21st and a (potential) 70th Birthday party! Age is clearly an attitude and not a number. Long may it continue!
Corporate Events
Corporate Events generally take a back seat in August, but we were thrilled to be asked to headline a mini festival for the 25th Anniversary of Air Charter Ltd. The unpredictable British weather did its best but torrential rain couldn’t keep the guests from fully entering into the spirit of the party.
Sporting Events
Finally, our run of high-profile sporting events continued with the official RFU ‘send-off’ party for the England Rugby World Cup team, at Grosvenor House in London.
We’re very proud to have played at several Rugby Union events over the past couple of years, (Johnny Wilkinson and Brian O’ Driscoll’s testimonials, as well as weddings for Mike Tindall and recently Martin Bayfield) and with the excitement surrounding the host-nation team this event was very special. Following a set from Ella Eyre who’s recording of “Swing Low Sweet Chariot” is the official England Rugby World Cup anthem we received a fantastic reception. The dance floor was overflowing, and the reputation for partying from a ‘rugby crowd’ was well and truly retained!
If you’re looking for a party band for your next event, then don’t hesitate to get in touch.
