It’s been a steamy few months for everyone as the country basks in the best summer we’ve had for many years. No complaints from Madhen, as we’ve been on our travels to equally sunny destinations. With a diary packed with its usual mix of corporate bookings, private parties, weddings and festivals the hot weather (and of course the World Cup!) has put a smile on everyone’s faces and made it a summer to remember!
Here’s a few highlights from the past few weeks:
On the Beach…
This was our first trip as a band to Croatia (it was also before they knocked us out of the World Cup!). We we’re lucky enough to have a little down-time in the beautiful coastal resort of Sibenik. The party took place in an open air night club directly on the beach. This stunning setting was the perfect start to the summer for us!
Y Viva Espana…
It’s always a pleasure to perform in Madrid. This time we were here to play to an worldwide audience at the ICMA conference, as they celebrated their 50th Anniversary. The evening was a celebration of all things Spanish with traditional Flamenco dancing and even a “Castell” – a human tower of epic proportion! Madhen were happy to bring a more ‘international’ flavour to the celebration.
Vetfest
Combining the relaxed feel of a festival with a corporate twist Madhen were the perfect fit for ‘supervet’ Professor Noel Fitzpatrick’s “Vetfest” held in Guildford. Noel’s unstoppable energy was infectious as he seemed to manage to dance with everyone during our set! Madhen were joined by special guest speaker Jonathan Ross and DJ James Carpenter (perhaps better known as Radio 2 Breakfast show’s “Jumpin’ Jimmy Flash”)
Royal Albert Hall
Ask anyone to name an iconic music venue and they’ll probably say The Royal Albert Hall. So it was a bucket-list moment for everyone in Madhen to be asked to perform in this most prestigious venue! It didn’t disappoint. Simply standing in the corridors of this historic building admiring photographs of the many legends that have graced the stage is a thrill in itself! We thought playing the 02 Arena (earlier in January this year) would be difficult to beat, but there’s something very magical about performing at the RAH that, as a band, we’ll never forget.
Booking for the Autumn / Winter and beyond continue to come in so if you’re considering booking us for an event in the second (and cooler) half of the year please get in touch. We can’t guarantee sunshine but we can guarantee a party to remember!
