With in excess of 1000 bookings globally, and over 15 years experience, Madhen’s enviable reputation as one of the world’s finest party bands continues to soar.
Madhen are Helen, Matthew, Martyn, Andy and Paul. Our line up remains unchanged after 15 years; testament to our dedication and success. Our extensive experience performing at corporate events and private parties all over the globe helps set us apart. We bring professionalism, versatility, energy and above all fun to every aspect of what we do – both on and off stage.
Madhen strive to push the boundaries of what a party band can offer, both musically and technically. We are renowned for our musical mashups that keep the dance floor filled. Nothing demonstrates this better than our latest innovation: Switch. This show combines unique musical arrangements with bespoke synchronised LED-loaded costumes and guitars. Together with multiple video walls, and integrated lighting design Switch makes for a multi sensory party experience. See for yourself in our latest video filmed at London’s prestigious venue KOKO. All of the technology used in this show is designed, installed and operated by the team at Madhen Productions.
Of course this level of production isn’t for everyone. No matter how big or small the event, Madhen will make your party one to remember for both you and your guests. From an intimate private wedding to sharing the stage with the music industry’s elite at global corporate events, Madhen aim to exceed the expectations of each and every client. Whether you’re planning a private party, or looking for a show-stopping spectacle for your next corporate event, Madhen will offer you the support, professionalism and excellence you need – both creatively and technically, from initial enquiry to the band’s very last chord.
If you’re searching for a high-energy party band, guaranteed to fill the dance-floor and make your event unforgettable, Madhen should mark the end of your search!
Apart from great song-choices, unique arrangements and dynamic choreography, Madhen is known for its sartorial elegance on stage, feathers and sequins are never far away! However, we’re always happy to incorporate the theme of your event into our stage-wear. Whether its simply reflecting the colour scheme of your wedding (a small but very effective touch) to full-on powdered wigs, circus clown make-up or even Rocky Horror heels and stockings – we’re up for most things! For a fully integrated live experience please contact us to discuss how we can make the party band you choose for your event about more than just a full dance floor.
Madhen’s reputation has been many years in the making. We first started to work together as So Blondie (originally named Bleach) in 2000. It was whilst working in a Bill Kenwright theatre production that we actually met. Helen was hired specifically to play the part of Debbie Harry. She was so convincing that forming So Blondie was a natural step following the tour, performing up to an hour of the greatest hits of this iconic new wave band. At an event in central London Helen was ‘papped’ and even the national press thought she was the real Debbie Harry (albeit 20 years younger!)
Having played many of the usual ‘tribute’ venues throughout the UK we felt there was a demand for an all-encompassing 80’s themed show. Something with wider appeal that would specifically be of interest to the corporate market. Matthew joined the band at this stage and in 2002 So 80’s was born! This was the catalyst that lead to many of the valuable business partnerships we still enjoy today. It was specifically the incredible chemistry of Matthew and Helen fronting the band that made So 80’s stand out. We perform two hours of the very best pop and rock songs by the likes of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Wham!, Madonna and Prince…amongst many others!
It was actually repeated comments by some of our audiences that suggested Matthew and Helen were so like Jake Shears and Ana Matronic from the Scissor Sisters, that in 2004, this became our next ‘incarnation’ – Scizzor Sisterz. This band took us to a new audience of universities and colleges whilst still being popular at corporate events too. At the time we also continued to play as So Blondie and So 80’s. We had begun to develop our own in-house roster of bands, without really planning it this way! Uniquely, we were (and still are) able to offer multiple tribute shows at the same event, which has several benefits. Not least logistically, technically and of course financially. Before long we found ourselves performing as a combination of tribute artistes with an ever increasing repertoire of songs. Like most of our best decisions, we listened to our clients. It was as a direct result of combining acts that Madhen (Party Band) was formed. The rest as they say, is history…
