A Flying Start.
2012 is off with a bang. We’ve had a great start to the year. Last week saw us playing alongside former M People vocalist Heather Small in the ballroom of the Grosvenor House Hotel. The following night found us onstage before Go West at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. We got a chance to chat to Peter Cox from Go West about gigging, writing and life in general. He’s a real gent. The following night we entertained in the guise of SO80s, one of our specialised tribute sets, at the 25th Anniversary awards for Office Depot.
This week we are playing at a conference for Best Western Hotels at The Lancaster Gate Hotel in London, and then flying from London the following morning to play in Edinburgh for an Exhibition called Our Dynamic Earth, which looks very cool. The following morning we fly back to London and make our way up to the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel for the last gig of the week.
In between all this we’re putting the finishing touches to some new live recordings and video, which you’ll get to see and hear very soon, and preparing for CONFEX 2012 at Excel, London. This year at CONFEX as well as exhibiting as MADHEN (stand P330 if you’re coming along) MADHEN Productions we’ll be providing and managing the staging, lighting and PA for the central feature at CONFEX 2012, so it’s all go in the MADHEN camp.
What a Madhen Year
Well 2011 was quite a year for MADHEN. It would be easy to sum the year up with statistics… just under 80 gigs, 31 flights (62 passes through airports), tens of thousands of miles traveled. It feels very much like a year of logistics and figures.
Madhen have played in Spain, Prague, Qatar, Russia, Jersey, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and have been mentioned in the national press including OK magazine, The Daily Mail, The Sun and a photo in Hello.
Our clients have included a Hollywood and Broadway Actor, a Lord, a media magnate, a sporting legend and a Princess as well as corporate clients such as Sony, O2 and Moet Et Chandon. We’ve played in venues that ranged from Birmingham Indoor Arena to The Eden Project and Excel to Hollyrood Palace. We’ve performed with Courtney Love, Tony Hadley and Rob Brydon as well as appearing in the same line up as Peter Kay, Alexander Burke, Marc Almond, Michael Mcintyre, Sean Lock and Rufus Hound amongst many others. We’ve added to our technical setup so we have the capability of running synchronised video with our set.
However, more than all the hard work, this has been a year of fun.
It’s been a really successful year for MADHEN and I hope we can make 2012 even better.
